Eleven Ships Traverse Hormuz as US-Iran Dialogue Falters
Of the vessels recorded in transit, nine moved outbound from the Arabian Gulf into the Gulf of Oman, while two made the return journey from east to west, according to Automatic Identification System data.
Vessel Movements in Detail
Traveling west to east through the strait were the Panama-flagged bulk carrier New Pioneer, en route from Argentina, and the Comoros-flagged landing craft Samia 1, operating between Iranian ports.
Heading in the opposite direction, eastbound to westbound, were the Comoros-flagged bulk carrier Gulf King, transiting from Iran to Oman; the Iran-flagged landing craft Hakim Khamir, bound for the United Arab Emirates from Iran; the Bolivia-flagged cargo vessel Midas 7, departing Iranian waters; the Panama-flagged Starway, traveling from the UAE to Oman; the Iran-flagged Bari 25422, outbound from the UAE; the Comoros-flagged landing craft Al Batha, heading from Oman to the UAE; the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged container ship Paya Lebar, en route from the UAE to India; the Panama-flagged crude oil tanker Idemitsu Maru, departing from Saudi Arabia; and the Panama-flagged general cargo ship Roya, making the passage from Iraq to the UAE.
Trump Claims Iran in "State of Collapse"
The vessel data emerged as US President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric over the crisis, asserting Tuesday that Iran had descended into a "state of collapse" and was pressing Washington for urgent access through the waterway.
"Iran has just informed us that they are in a 'State of Collapse,'" Trump wrote on his social media platform TruthSocial. "They want us to 'Open the Hormuz Strait,' as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation (Which I believe they will be able to do!)"
The remarks came even as Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed no formal meeting between Tehran and Washington was currently scheduled, leaving the diplomatic path forward deeply uncertain despite the narrow but continued flow of commercial shipping through the strategically vital chokepoint.
